Options
You may need help in making the right choices. Connexions Direct have three booklets that may be of help to you and your family. These are updated every September.
- 'Which way now?' - a guide to option choices at age 14 (year 9)
- 'It's Your Choice' - a guide to post 16 options in education, training or work (year 11)
- 'Parents and Carers of year 9 Students' - a guide to supporting teenagers through their career and learning choices from year 9 onwards
All three booklets are available online from Connexions Direct (link opens in a new window).
These are some questions you may be thinking about at 16+:
- Should I go on to sixth form at a school or a sixth form college?
- Would I enjoy learning in a further education college?
- Would learning (and earning) on the job be best for me?
- What are the differences between all the different options?
Where to learn
Are you unsure where you should choose to study after year 11?
- A school sixth form
- A sixth form college
- A further education (FE) college
- Work based learning
- A specialist college
You can find out more about what to expect if you choose to learn in each of these different settings on the Connexions Direct website (link opens in a new window).
